| Thamarai is the name given to a social center created by Auroville for the women and children of the nearby village of Edayanchavadi, in Tamil Nadu. Women of the village are given a space and tools for emancipating themselves, and children are given some education support to school, and a creative space for artistic creativity. This dance prepared here by some of the girls attending Thamarai, is an example of what can be done and which security in their own means can be offered to these girls, who in this case are performing in a great auditorium in front of 800 audience, without being professionals or constantly trained in dance... just creativity ! |
