This short film was first created to raise awareness and funds for Sadhana Forest, a community project in Auroville since 2003 and in Haiti since 2010. The video presents how the Sadhana forest team is countering water conservation and reforestation, the two main ecological issues of the 21st century. "It's not just about the physical effort... it's about keeping faith in your land," says Aviram, founder of Sadhana. "Just imagine what we can achieve with 10 or 20 or 50 Sadhana forests in all arid corners of the world..."

A movie by Hans and Oli, about the impact of cutting trees, sustainability and eco awareness, made for The Auroville Film Festival 2009 Sadhana Forest invites you to take part in building a sustainable vegan community. We are a vegan home-schooling family working with volunteers towards reforesting 70 acres in the International Community of Auroville in Tamil Nadu, South India. We practice an eco-friendly way of life including veganism, alternative construction, solar energy and composting toilets. Future projects also include creating a vegan organic vegetable garden in order to increase our sustainability and implementing a grey water system. Volunteers contribute four hours of work per day in exchange for bungalow-style accommodations. www.sadhanaforest.org |
