At the conclusion of the Litter-free day in Auroville, on January 29, 2010, there was a community show on the stage of the Visitors' Centre.Highlight of the night was a "trashion show", fashion dresses made from trash, and music performed by the youngest musicians in Auroville. So many things it is possible to do with a proper re-cycle of waste !...and in this case, in a creative mood. More than 1500 audience attended, and it was great fun for everyone.

At Auroville Bamboo Research Center they also developed, amongst many things, exclusively out of bamboo series of children toys. Those toys are not only beautiful, and environment friendly but children can take them apart, and put them together again.

Mirra Alfassa or 'The Mother' founded the 'City of Dawn' in Viluppuram in 1968. Her work within the experimental township has promoted a harmonious lifestyle to all who live there. The Auroville township in South India is now home to 2000 people from all over the world. "I am on the verge of a new perception of life, as if certain parts of the consciousness were mutating from the caterpillar state to the butterfly state..." says Alfassa. The purpose was to realise human unity and it is today recognised as the first and only internationally endorsed experiment that is still ongoing in this field.
