| CHAPTER TOO is an eleven minute movie that Adil Writer www.adilwriter.com requested Auroville film-makers Claudine and Basile to make for him last year. Clay-Edge 2007 was an invitational ceramic event held in Gulgong, co-hosted by Janet Mansfields Ceramic Art and Perception magazine and the Cudgegong Gallery where the invited masters were asked to showcase their work to the conventions delegates. Adil is a huge believer in the moving image, so instead of subjecting the viewers to the monotony of still images, this movie gave a compact idea of his work, his studio, Mandala Pottery, other potteries in Auroville and the setting of Auroville, an international experiment in communal living in South India, based on the philosophy of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother.??The movie focuses on his paintings as well as his ceramic work. Especially the Red Dot series, inspired by the wayside iconography and street architecture of south India. The red dot finds its way on a lot of Adil's current work.... |
